This happened the other day and I reset the security system and it started happened again reset it, it ran, now it won't start even if I reset it, my boyfriend insists it's the fuel pump I think it's the crankshaft sensor because I hear the fuel pump when I turn the key. He sprayed starting fluid in the engine, it kind of started but it shut off. Doesn't the crankshaft sensors kind of do the same thing as the fuel pump?

Hi,

If the engine tried to start with starting fluid and then stalled, it is a fuel-related issue and not the sensor. A crankshaft sensor will cause issues with ignition spark to the spark plugs. If that was happening, the starting fluid wouldn't have made any difference.

So, I suggest by testing fuel pressure to see if it is within spec. You may hear the pump, but it may not be producing. Here is a link that explains how to test pressure. You will need a fuel pressure gauge, but most parts stores will lend one to you.

Try this and let me know the results.

Take care,
