Been having bad misfire and fuel pump issues for some time now. Removed fuel pump to repair broke wire on pump and after installing and adding fuel back to tank the car turns over then stops suddenly. Like it hit a wall. Could this be a cat issue or maybe vap lock? The fuel consumption has been way off the charts past week. Maybe a stuck injector? Thanks for the help guys.

Hi,

Do you mean the engine starts and then stalls or the starter motor begins to turn the engine and then stops?

Also, have you checked to confirm the fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specifications?

Here is a link that explains in general how it's done:

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

The start starts turning then what seems to be the decompression stroke it stopped. I've removed the sparkplug from cylinders 1, 2, and 3. Try starting again same thing.

I've checked fuel pressure but that's a different issue. Main concern is the sudden stop while it's spinning over.

Hi,

Do me a favor. If possible, record it cranking so I can hear it. Hopefully, that will provide me with the info needed.

Also, just to confirm, it is the starter motor that stops working, correct?

Let me know,

Joe

No starter is fine, and I got it figured out, it seems #5-cylinder fuel injector is stuck open allowing it to fill with fuel. Car still runs badly, will be changing the injector soon. Thanks for your help Joe.

Hi,

Wow, that isn't good. LOL Regardless, I'm glad you found the issue. I strongly recommend changing the motor oil once the injector is replaced. Chances are there is fuel mixed with it.

I attached the directions below for replacing an injector on this vehicle. If you have questions, let me know. I hope this helps.

Take care,

Joe
