Hi i'm Ed. Car was a gift. Changed battery, ignition coils, spark plugs and wires, starter, cam and crankshafts sensors, fuel pump, and alternator. I added starter fluid to throttle body butterfly flap, started briefly, 5 seconds tops, then shut off. I didn't take out the throttle body also I removed throttle sensor but don't know how to check for defects. It looks normal to me. Please help, what am I missing?

Hello,

Did you happen to change the fuel filter when you changed the fuel pump? The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly, but is separate from the fuel pump itself. This sounds like it could be a fuel filter issue to me. In the diagrams down below I have included an exploded view of the fuel pump/filter for you. I did not include instructions for the removal and installation of the fuel pump/filter since you already replaced the fuel pump and should know the procedure. Check the fuel filter and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

I changed the fuel filter, same problem, crank but no start. One question, when the car is in the on position, does the throttle body interior butterfly supposed to open a little, stay closed or move some what when cranking? I appreciate your help!
