Crank sensor replacement

Does the A/C system have to be removed to replace sensor?

Good afternoon,

No the AC unit does not need to be removed to gain access to this sensor.

See the diagrams attached.
Removal and installation procedure:

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery.
3. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
4. Remove the retaining bolt from the sensor.
5. Before removing the sensor clean the surrounding area with a rag to remove any dirt that might fall into the sensor bore.
6. Remove the sensor by pulling and twisting slightly.
7. Install the new sensor (be careful not to damage the o-ring).
8. Install the retaining bolt. Tighten to 10Nm or 89 in/-lbs if you have a torque wrench available).
9. Reinstall the connector.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Re-connect the battery negative cable.
