That is not a common question from a mechanic unless there is some other underlying problem, but you did not include any details, so I will just add a couple of tidbits of value.

The sensor is slid into a hole, then it is held in place by a singe bolt. Remove the bolt, unplug the connector, then slide the sensor out.

Be aware diagnostic fault codes never ever say to replace parts. They only indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis, or the unacceptable operating condition. When a part is referenced in a fault code, that part is actually the cause of that code about half of the time. First we rule out wiring and connector terminal problems before we spend our customer's money on a part.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

I'm not sure if you have a 2.7L V6 or a 2.0L 4 cylinder. You listed two different things above. LOL

So, if you have the V6. You need to remove the fresh air duct under the hood. Once removed, the sensor is mounted on the engine. See pictures 1 and 2.

On the 4 cylinder, it is located near the oil pressure switch on the engine. See picture 3

Let me know if this helps.

Joe

Camshaft position located at rear of cylinder head. Crankshaft position sensor, located at lower left side of engine in the transmission bell housing.

Here is a guide to help you step by step when changing the sensor out with diagrams below to show you on your car.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/crankshaft-angle-sensor-replacement

Both sensors are bolted on with one bolt and replacement is simple, only problem could be accessing them due to location. You might need to jack the car up

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed. Cheers

Welcome to 2CarPros.

The book calls for .7 hours so figure around 40 minutes for replacement. The component is located in the left Rear of engine compartment (Transmission Housing). See picture 1. There is only one bolt that holds it in place. Here are the directions for replacement:

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Raise vehicle and support.
3. Disconnect wire connector from sensor.
4. Remove sensor mounting bolt.
5. Remove sensor from transmission cover.

Installation
1. Install crankshaft position sensor to transmission cover.
2. Install and tighten sensor mounting bolt.
3. Connect wire connector to sensor.
4. Lower vehicle.
5. Connect negative battery cable.

Help, my wifes sportage has the single overhead cam 4cyl and I'm being told that it has a cam sensor that I can locate and a crankshaft sensor that I can't. I've looked at the back of the motor (between the firewall and the intake) and even traced all the wires to the back of the motor there isn't one to be found! I was told it was small but wouldn't it be wired (no loose wires hanging anywhere either)?
