My Lexus 220d seems to surge whilst traveling. This seems to happen when you have your foot on the accelerator just enough to keep your speed up, engine also idles unevenly and stalls while in traffic / stationary, this seems to happen more when the weather is warm / hot and sunny and is not noticeable during cold weather. I am thinking it may be the crank sensor as symptoms are similar to what I have read on other sites. Is it worth a shot and getting it replaced as I believe its not a expensive job to have done.
Many Thanks.

This is most likely not a crank sensor. Here is a guide that talks about symptoms of a crank sensor:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/symptoms-of-a-bad-crankshaft-sensor

Basically if the engine keeps running just poorly and then starts back up after it stall then it is most likely not the crank sensor. This is something that will cause the engine to just cut off and then will not restart until the sensor cools down.

This sounds more like a fuel issue. I would start with checking the pressure and go from there.

Please run through this material and let us know what the pressure is when this is acting up. Thanks
