Ive been working on this truck for a while now trying to figure it out in my spare time i seen another post you commented on to do the gauge test which i have and the gauges seem to work properly but has several C-Codes that flash across the odometer reading when gauges finish the sweep and they are never the same codes twice I've had it started 3 times in the last 5 months and each time it ran about 30 min or so then just all the sudden nothing any advise would be helpful thanks from a stumped DIYer.

When you have a crank no-start, chances are it is either a fuel or ignition-related issue. Try this. See if the engine will start if you use starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know it is fuel-related. If there is no change, then we need to focus on ignition issues and check for spark at the plugs.

Here is a link that explains how to check for ignition spark:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-for-ignition-spark

Try that and let me know the results. Also, let me know what codes you are getting.

Take care,

Joe

There is no fuel or spark in thought i pit that in last message also when the gauges stop working a scan tool will tell me the "PCM does not exist" but like I posted before I have gotten it to start a couple times for 30 minutes or so then nothing for months I'm at a loss on where to go from here I'm thinking of trying to reprogram the PCM and see if that changes anything.

P1687 No Cluster Bus Message, so you are correct, the cluster is bad, I would get a used unit from ebay and plug it in to see if the problem goes away. The CAN BUS goes through the cluster and if it i dead and communication will stop.

Okay, lets check the power and grounds for the cluster. Here is a guide to help and the wiring daigrams that show which wires are power and which ones are ground.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

Do your testing with the cluster disconnected and the ignition switch on. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes

Does it matter that it had a aftermarket security system half installed half Uninstalled when I first got the truck so I went ahead and finished removing it and put it back to factory wiring

Yes, that matters, thanks for letting me know, I would remove the aftermarket alarm and return the wiring back to factory. Clear the codes and let me know.

Before we get to that, can I ask if the engine sounds okay while cranking? Please go over this video which can head us in the right direction.

It sounds like you have bad gas or the fuel pump is weak, here is a video to help you check the fuel pressure.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgEixCsqcYM

FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 339 kPa +/- 34 kPa (49.2 psi +/- 2 psi)

You can rent the gauge at the auto parts store for free. Please let us know what happens.

Yep, okay, lets unplug the MAP/MAF sensor and try it again, if the computer does not see the vacuum or air flow it will disable the fuel injectors from firing, here is a guide to help confirm the injector pulse failure,

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-a-fuel-injector

Let me know how it goes.
