Replaced fuel pump, filter, relay, fuel pump regulator, replaced plugs, wires, and installed new ignition switch. Now I can’t turn the key passed the third click (first click off, second accessories, third on, fourth to start). Out old ignition switch back in and same problem.

I had the key lock cylinder removed already and tried starting it with a screwdriver, it still wouldn’t turn past run. I found a plastic clip attached to a cable that ran to my shifter, when I removed it I was able to get it to crank again. I suspect the plastic piece is worn and won’t allow the key to spin all the way.

Hello again,

It's probably a little plastic arm that goes to the ignition switch and pushes an arm in the switch as the key is turned in the lock cylinder. A lot of times these will break and then the key and the lock cylinder itself will be to spin around in a complete circle and do nothing at all.

Thanks,
Alex
