When I bought the truck, it had previously been stolen, I replaced the lock cylinder and lock cylinder housing, security light was on. I went through the process of turning the key on and waiting 10 mins 3 times, security light went out, truck runs great.
6 months later truck starts having problems, hesitating when trying to accelerate, losing power especially when going uphill, rough idling, engine dying while driving it and then cranks but will not start. The battery was taken out of it when it died in a parking lot so any codes it was throwing are lost.
I have replaced the spark plugs, ignition coil (and the wire to the distributor, ignition module, fuel filter, crank shaft position sensor, the distributor and still crank but no start. The tow/haul wire was severed before I got the truck, a buddy came over to try and help and replaced the shifter lever the tow wire is attached to. Then the key is hard to turn in the ignition, so buddy takes out the lock cylinder which throws the truck into security mode. The lock cylinder is damaged during attempting to complete the security sequence to get the truck out of security mode. After switching out the ignition coil and ignition module I myself then took off and put back on (correctly) the shifter lever and got another brand-new lock cylinder.
However, the new problem is now getting the truck out of security mode. When attempting to complete the sequence of turning the ignition on and waiting ten mins for the security light to go out, the light never goes out. I've left it in the on position overnight hooked up to a battery charger and still the light never goes out. For all I know the initial issue has been resolved but the truck won't start anyways due to the security mode lockout. Why isn't the light going out? What do I do now or how do I fix it?
