It has a brand new crank sensor and a brand new pump. The pump is working I tested with starting fluid and it started up then shut off. So I'm under the influence that the compression is good so I'm thinking cam sensor may not be creating fuel injector pulse, but not sure.

Good afternoon,

The fact that it runs with the fluid tells me it is a fuel delivery issue.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-cranks-but-wont-start

Can you hear the pump run with the key on for 2 seconds? I would also verify the pressure to be sure.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

Are there any codes set?

The ECM controls the injector firing sequence. You need to test and see if the ECM is commanding the injectors to fire with a noid light.

Hi,

That is where I would start. Also, if you haven't checked the fuel pressure, do that. The pump may be working but not providing the needed pressure (even though it is new).

Here is a link that will explain how to test the injectors for a pulse. Do this and let me know the results.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

First off before I did anything with the injectors I tested every one of my sensors they are supposed to be 5 volts they were all 4.9 volts. Does that mean my PCM could be bad or could have failed?

Not at all. 4.9 is good.

Did you test the pressure?

I haven't tested the pressure yet. I don't have a special attachment because there's no valve on my fuel rail.

You can rent a tester at a parts store that will have the needed adapters for this procedure.

Like I said before the fuel pump and regulator is new, but when I checked it for pressure I did not get any. But the pump is running when I turn the key to on position. What next and thank you?

Okay, if the pump is running and there is no pressure you are either out of fuel or the new pump is no good.

My mistake. I had the pump relay un hooked. It's getting between 50 and 55 psi and the injectors are pulsating but still won't start. I've ruled out the PCM failing and the crank sensor is new and working properly. That's as far as I've gotten. Thank you

Okay, did you verify spark to the plugs?

If you have spark, then check the compression to be sure the timing belt has not failed.

Okay, then you have spark.

Back to compression.

The fact it started tells me this is still a fuel issue.

Did you use a noid light to verify the injectors are allowing fuel into the cylinders?

I only had a test light but I'll get some noid lights soon. Another thing I forgot to mention is when the car did run it would run until operating temperature then would shut down and I'd have to wait until the next day to start it again. But eventually it gave up and never started again.

I started testing the injectors wire coming from the PCM harness plug and found 2 wires bared and arcing on one another and taped them up and then went to test the fuse in the power relay box under the hood and found out that it was a blown fuse. So I put a new one in and the car started right up. Thank you gentlemen for all your help. Much appreciated.

I have another question about that car. After I got it started 3 coils are not firing and we've tested the coils and they're good so how do I trace down a break or something in wires?

Make sure there is battery voltage to one of the wires in the connector. The other wire goes to the ECM for grounding. When the ECM grounds that wire, the coil sends off spark.

Look for more damage to the ECM harness. It sounds like there is more damage somewhere.
