Crank no start

2002 LINCOLN TOWN CAR
136,000 MILES • 4.6L • V8 • 2WD • AUTOMATIC

Koeo fuel pump kicks on for maybe a half of a second , while cranking fuel pump does not kick on also no spark. checked all fuse and relays all good. I'm at a loss.

Hi,

Do you have access to a live data scanner? If you do, check to see if there is an RPM signal when cranking. If there is no signal, it's likely the crankshaft position sensor has failed.

The vehicle is equipped with an auto fuel shut down. However, if you hear the fuel pump, that isn't the issue.

Take a look through this link. It describes the most common symptoms of a faulty crankshaft position sensor. See if anything mirrors what you are experiencing.

Also, let me know if you scanned the computer to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes. That could be very helpful.
