Crank but no start

Ran rough w/o gas cap. Installed key lock switch, panel says check guages, after putting on gas cap n washing engine compartment, it won't run. Been sitting for awhile

Do all of the lights on the dash work? When you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?
