The other day my car overheated because someone loosened my radiator cap. Didn't completely run out of fluid but was hot. Now when I accelerate, I hear what sounds like a fan or something banging against something. Could this be the impeller? It only makes the sound when accelerating and is a clicking sound. Thanks

Hello, this vehicle does not have a fan that rides on the water pump. However it could still be related with the belt system as you are revving the engine. Can you provide a video for us to listen? If you have a friend to help you might could pinpoint if the sound is in fact coming from the belt side or the front of the car.

Hope this helps,
William

Hello, yes, I know there is no belt powered fan I was just mentioning that for a sound reference. Doesn't this fine with a metal impeller in the water pump? Maybe from the car overheating it messed something up? Drove the car 150 Miles today and it ran a little under temperature. I will try and get a recording, it mostly does it as accelerating in motion.
Ps sorry if I came off a bit like an ahole at first that wasn't my intention.

If the car overheated significantly, it is possible that the engine suffered some internal damage/warpage. I have seen engines retain a knock or valve noise after overheating. We can help you better with a video whenever you get the chance.

Thanks,
William
