My car is leaking coolant when it is not running. I found the leak and there is a crack in the plastic piece that the lower radiator hose is connected to. I just replaced the radiator and the hoses. What is that plastic piece called? how do I fix it? And why does it only leak when the engine is turned off?

it will be the thermostat housing. the leak will be there all the time under pressure, when the engine shuts down, heat sink can raise the system pressure a little and you may notice the leak more at that time.
