Fan basically shorted out and caught fire a little! Unplugged it and no problem, plugged it back in and it immediately began to smoke. Obviously I need to replace it?
But my question is, it's super cold out, northern MN in the winter -24 degrees this morning, (LOL) It's also New Years Day. I drove it home last night (fifteen minutes) and it stayed cool (working gauge sub 190 degrees).

So is it safe to drive in these cold temperatures as long as I watch the heat gauge? Just for a couple days until I get the part?

Good morning,

Yes, you need to be sure that you watch it at idle situations as that is when it is needed the most.

If you use the defroster, the AC will kick in and the fan should come on. without the fan, it may make a difference in cleaning off the inside of your windshield.
