Where is the location of the coolant Temperature sensor? I am having overheating but the fan is running and the fluids are good and there is appropriate heat coming from fan but on occasion the gauge shows that it is overheating but then it goes back to normal range. so I am thinking of changing the sensor on it to see if it resolves the issue.

Yes, there is a chance the sensor is shorting out but also check the electrical connector to make sure it is tight on the sensor as well, if it loses connection can cause this issue. It looks like the sensor is toward the front of the engine near the upper radiator hose. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.
