Temperature gauge increasing max but engine is running correctly and not overheating. Sensor is 3 pin type and has just been changed as original failed on engine management side.
Gauge was operating correctly.

Good afternoon,
If the gauge was reading high, then it was running hot and needs to be addressed. Running it like this could cause engine damage.
I also attached a wiring diagram of the cooling fans. Are they working when the engine gets hot?

Engine is not running hot. No loss of water. No other signs of overheating. Gauge was not showing high temperature before sensor was changed. Sensor is a dual type and the original was not sending correct signal to ECU. New sensor shows gauge at normal temperature when cold in morning. No other changes to the engine. I suspect incorrect sensor supplied. Engine is now running smoothly, no engine light.

Okay, I understand but I have a question.
Why did you change the temperature sensor if it did not show high temperature before? Was there another issue?

Sensor is a 2 element type. The element going to the ECU was faulty giving an engine fault light. Fault codes were checked and the sensor diagnosed as faulty. So there was a fault on 1 element of the sensor but not on the element for the temperature gauge.

Okay, makes sense. I just was trying to see if you had another issue.
