coolant leak when A/C is turned on

Hi,

When you say middle of the vehicle, are you looking at it from the side where the center would be centered between the front and rear wheels? If so, there is nothing there that would leak coolant. Could it be water from the A/C?

If you notice the leak at the front center of the vehicle, it could be a few things. If you notice the coolant level is dropping, we need to pressure test the cooling system. You will need a tester, but most parts stored will lend one to you. Here is a link that shows how it is done:

By performing a pressure test, it allows you to inspect for leaks with the engine cold. It's safer and easier to do.

If there are no hoses leaking, it could be coming from the water pump. On the pump, there is a weep hole. Coolant can leak from it when the bearing in the pump or seal starts to fail. I attached a pic below and highlighted where the pump is located. It will be behind the belt pully I highlighted. See if there is anything wet there.

Hey Joe thanks for the reply and advise. The leak is not coming from the water pump. The leak is coming from the front middle of the car right underneath the radiator. I hope is not the radiator, but it is what I saw. Is any component around the radiator would cause this leak?

Hi,

As far as other things in that area, other than the overflow, there really isn't much. Check to make sure the reservoir isn't leaking down one of the hoses. Also, check where both hoses attach to the radiator and the drain at the bottom.

I attached a pic below showing where I'm referring to. Let me know if you find anything. Also, you really should pressure test it. That will likely cause the leak to happen and give you a chance to locate it.
