Mechanic says coolant was found in oil. Says car probably blew a head gasket and engine will need to be replaced. He doesn't do engine repair, but said I could get a second opinion. He advised not to try and drive it because it could seize up. The car is prob. Worth only $5,000.00. what would you suggest?

Good afternoon,

I agree with him. You most likely have a failed head gasket.

If you drive it, you will damage the bearings and it will lock up.

I would suggest a good used engine. You should be able to get one installed for about $2,000.00 to $2,500.00.
