I just bought this truck. It has a lot of aftermarket parts. I believe it’s been “bulletproofed”. Symptoms are that it is losing coolant. No visible leaking coolant. No white smoke. No check engine light. Hoping and praying it’s not a head gasket issue.

Hi,

If there are no visible leaks, have you checked the engine oil to make sure it isn't making its way into there?

Do me a favor. Take a look through this link first. It explains the different symptoms of a failing head gasket.

Next, if that is not helpful, then I suggest pressure testing the cooling system. This allows you to slowly and carefully check for leaks while the engine is cold. You will need a pressure tester, but most parts stores will lend one to you.

Here is a link that explains how to do it:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/radiator-pressure-test

A couple of things to check in addition are these. Make sure the carpet on the passenger side interior isn't wet indicating the heater core is leaking. Also, test or replace the radiator cap. A cap that won't hold pressure will allow the coolant to have a lower boiling point and evaporate.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

joe

Joe,

A new radiator cap seems to have fixed the issue! Thank you!
