Car running hot reservoir gap. My friend told me it sounds like it is the water pump. What else could it be?

Could be ahead gasket bad or radiator, disable fans when hot shut off engine and check radiator for cold spots if any rad Is bad. Then pressure check coolant system for internal leak like a head gasket.
