I am converting the van listed above into a camper. To do this I want to strip it down and apply insulation. As I was stripping out the plastic/leather walls and fabric interior I noticed a vent on the wall beside the left rear passenger A/C control and lighter thing. I just wanted to make sure that it's okay to cover that all with insulation and plywood wall or if the vent is there for a reason so it doesn't overheat? Like if I cover it up, am I risking death? The plan is to convert it and live in it full time.

Could you take a picture of it and post it here? I don't see anything in the service info about a vent but that is probably because it's not something that breaks like the control itself. A picture might make it easier to figure out what it's function is. I suspect it's related to the controls and lighter and might be there to keep the heat from the lighter from damaging things. You might try using the lighter and see if you feel heat at the vent. Hope you enjoy the van life and stealth camping.
