This happened after I opened the top with the top receiver closed. By pressing the switch I can hear the pump, but the roof does not move forward and cannot secure. After the windows are closed manually pressing the switch will open the windows for 3/4 then stops.

all the function on the remote work, except the trunk release.
on the pump is something like a valve. What is that for?

Hi,

First, low hydraulic fluid can cause it not to fully operate. To check fluid, the pump needs removed. Here are the directions.

_______________________________________

Perform the following in order to get the proper level of fluid in the pump reservoir:

1. Make sure that the system is sealed.
2. Remove the hydraulic pump/motor from its mounting location but don't remove any lines See: Convertible Top Motor > Removal and Replacement > Hydraulic Motor And Pump Assembly - Removal.
3. Remove the pump bracket and jute/cover that surrounds the pump.
4. The fill hole to the reservoir is on the left side of the pump as it is mounted. You must turn the pump/motor on its right end to allow it to be filled. Don't overfill or damage to pump/motor may occur. The proper fill level of the fluid is between the top and bottom of the plus sign on the reservoir, when the top is latched at the header and the decklid is closed.

NOTE: As the lost fluid is replaced in each component, the reservoir will drain. Check the reservoir often while running the top up and down.

5. Fill reservoir up enough to allow it to run and fill up whatever was replaced or leaked out.
6. Operate the power top up and down and check/replace fluid until proper level is reached with the pump in the horizontal position.
7. Repeat 6 as necessary to reach proper fluid level.
8. After fluid is at proper level, install bracket on pump/motor.
9. Install the pump/motor See: Convertible Top Motor > Removal and Replacement > Hydraulic Motor And Pump Assembly - Installation.

Here are the removal directions for the pump. The attached pics correlate with the directions.

REMOVAL

NOTE: The hydraulic system uses ARAL VITAMOL ZH-M fluid. When replacing components or topping off system due to leak, make sure to use only approved fluid. When adding fluid See: Convertible Top > Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures > Water Leak Test.

1. Disconnect the battery negative remote cable.
2. Open decklid.
3. Remove the spare tire cover/floor panel.
4. Remove the rear trunk trim.
5. Remove the spare tire and jack.
6. Remove the two bolts (2) from the pump assembly.
7. Separate the pump from the bracket:
a. Unwrap the insulation.
B. Disconnect the electrical connector and un-clip the push pin.

8. Release the pump pressure valve by turning it counter clockwise (1) two rotations.
9. Remove the bolts to the line retaining plate.
10. Move the lines and retaining plate out of the way.
11. Remove pump assembly from the vehicle.
