I have a 1999password ford contour se 2.0 liter I reset the check gine light and after doing so I shut the off and went inside When I came back out to start the car it was dead. When I tried to turn it over it only responded with a bunch of rapid clicks. My neighbor brought over a portable booster pack and I hooked it up and started the car. I unhooked the booster pack and got in the car to drive off and as soon as I pressed on break to take the car out of park it died. I tried to restart it but got one click And dim dash lights. I then hooked the booster pack back up and started the car this time I let it idle for 10+ minutes, went out to leave turned on the head lights and it died. I have jumped it numerous times and tried different accessories with the same rusult even the turn signals and ac kill the car immediately after. I checked fuses and relays and all are good. Please help I am at a total loss and I need this POS for my new job on monday wentout

It sounds like either you have a bad battery or the alternator isn't charging the battery. Remove the battery and fully charge it. Take it to a parts store and have them load test it for you so we know if it is any good. Once you have done that, get back to me with the results.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I have the battery on a 12v 12a deep cycle charger right now. I popped the battery fluid caps and the battery was only half full of water. I filled it up and put it on the charger. I will take it down to my local autopart store for a load test in the morning. Also I no longer have a volt meter someone decided that they needed it and about $1000 dollars worth of my automotive tools. I will let you know the results of the load test and any other mechanical ideas I try to solve this issue.

Just got back from the autoparts store. They tested the battery and its voltage was good but once they put it on the load tester it failed. Ill replace the battery later today and let you know the outcome. Thank you for all your help. I will recommend this site to all my friends.

I figured it out after the battery change out. The cars instrument lights where dim so I replaced the positive battery terminal and viola the car started right up so the terminal was the problem.
