Continuous backfire

My vehicle is continuously backfiring at idle and when I put it in drive and try to go it cuts off on me. what should I check first ?

It sounds like either there is a timing issue or a bad valve causing it to backfire. However, there are many other things which can cause it. Watch this video for a list if things to check.
