Connecting rod bearings replacement

I'm replacing my connecting rod bearings and on one rod there is still up and down play, all of the other rods are fine. What could cause this issue and what is the next step i should take?

First I have to ask, did you plastigage the new bearings when you put them in?

Replacing bearings isn't just an easy swap like a starter. You must plastigage them to make sure you have proper oil clearance.

There are several ways to deal with clearance issues.

Too tight with a standard bearing means try a different set of bearings or have the crank milled.
Too loose means you need an over sized bearing and then if the clearances are too tight you have to mill the crank.
