Cousin had an issue with his Sienna, I took it to this guy who has a recovery machine and knows more than I do. I suspected the compressor is weak due to miles. It was randomly cold but mostly not cold. He said the compressor and kit, expansion valve needs to be changed. Cousin was on a budget so I got one from amazon and took it to him. He called and saids the new one is not coming on. He played with it and called next day said it's ready. I picked it up, freezing cold, got home and turned it off, took it to my cousin next day, super cold. He took it and 3 days later he said its blowing hot air. His brother has good knowledge on readings and the such. He said the flow sensor reading was 2.8 and is high so he got another one, now it would not cool at all. He got a used Denso compressor and it would not cool at all, flow sensor reading was high around 4, and based on Toyota guidelines the lower the better. he had a 12v signal and a 5v to the wires. He suspected the amplifier so he changed it, also changed the HVAC control unit on the dash same thing. Just called him he said he replaced the flow sensor from the new compressor I installed and installed it on the Denso compressor, not taking freon, he said sometimes he even loses the signal to the wire. He also changed the relay. Ever seen such a problem?

Yep, we need to make sure the compressor is getting 12 volts when the HVAC system is switched on, and if so what are the high and low side pressures. Here is a video to help.

Let me know what you find.

If the clutch does engage but the high and low pressures don't separate, then concentrate on the compressor control solenoid/variable displacement operation or the compressor itself. Toyota confirms that the solenoid determines compressor displacement and therefore pumping capacity.

Also does this car have a dryer as well? We reppaced the expansion valve, could a dryer cause such an issue? Also, he said he replaced the cutoff switch as well. Low and high were great first when it was super cold but now the high stays high
