Coolant cap popped off at normal tempratures

I drove to work today and it was driving fine no weird temperature problems nothing as i got to work and parked it sat fir about 5 minutes before i heard a thud i checked my engine and the coolant cap was gone and coolant was all over the ground next to it what could this be?

either a blockage of some sort or a head gasket problem. have coolant system pressure checked for that.
