A few months ago a mechanic convinced me to use a used 1988 Oldsmobile coil pack and module on my car. Today, I discovered a misfire on wire #5. So now I am replacing the coil pack new, while doing so I noticed that the old wires (yellow/black, green/black, and blue/black wires) were connected to wire #6, blue, #4, green, #0, yellow. The new coil pack instructs me to connect #5, blue, #3, green, #1, yellow. Does this mean the Oldsmobile coil pack was never a match? Should I go with the new wire configuration? Or Ignore the new and configure as the old coil pack is? And Does the spark plug wire order stay the same or change accordingly?

Hey,

Go with the wiring the new coil pack came with, also if you want to try changing the wires on the old coil to see if it works that would be okay too. Let me know what you find,

Best, Ken
