Just got back from the mechanic. I went in to replace the fuel filter, air filter, exhaust manifold gasket and oil filter. The check engine light never came on before and now it comes on after five minutes of driving. Checked the cold using the old paper clip method and I got trouble codes of 44 as 34. What is going on?

Good evening.

I attached the code chart for you for both codes.

34 is usually the EGr valve. If you replace it, make sure it has the position sensor with it.

Okay. Engine gas re-circulation valve. I will get on top of this and are there any other typical causes for this? Mass airflow sensor etc?

MAP sensor is common but must be confirmed to be sure. Follow the chart.

So I replaced the EGR today and while I was at I put in a new MAP sensor as well. Also put in the a new position sensor too. The truck I running rougher out of first gear "manual transmission" and the ride seems to be rougher like a choke or hiccup as a accelerate. What are your thoughts on what it could be?

Make sure you have no vacuum leaks.

Check for vacuum to the MAP sensor. Look for any cracked or damaged lines.

Did the codes clear?
