Car coded P0776 and I’ve been told by the mechanic that it requires a new transmission. Looking to know if that is the only solution or if there are solutions like changing solenoid and flushing fluid would remedy the issue?

Good afternoon,

The code is pointing directly to an internal issue inside the transmission.

It would require removal of the transmission and rebuilding it.

A lot of shops just want to replace it with new but there are other options. You could have it rebuilt or install a used one to keep the price down.

From the looks of the issues, I doubt changing the fluid and filter will fix it at all.

I attached the possible issues but they are are pointing to inside failure.

Okay. Shop said GM transmission to replace with $3,950.00 parts and labor. 3 years 100,000 mile warranty will have to go that way. Shops I talked to said they don’t rebuild that particular 6 speed.

Okay, that sounds like a good price as well.
