Code p0513?

I have been trying to get it started for quite a while now. I'm about to throw in the towel. It all started when the battery wasn't holding a charge. After replacing the battery, the vehicle wouldn't crank at all. The lightning bolt icon was flashing, and I was getting code p0123. Replacing the throttle housing the lightning bolt stop flashing but I do still have permanent codes of p0123 and two others to do with the pedal sensor and the second throttle position sensor. I don't remember off the top of my head with those codes are, but I still see them as permanent codes in my cheap code reader and that's the only codes that I see. The vehicle still does not try to crank. And I get the engine light flashing.

I tried the software program AlfaODB and it gives me a whole different code that the other readers don't give me, which is p0513. I guess this makes sense of why it's not cranking but I don't understand why none of the other code readers are giving me this.

This is one of the push button Jeeps and it does recognize whether the key fob is in the car or not. I'm not sure if the proximity sensor and the skim code are of the same system and if it's possible to read one and not the other.

Do you guys have any ideas of what I can check next?

Hi,

This is an odd one. I don't want to, but I have to ask if you tried a different FOB or confirmed the one you are using is good. As I believe you are already aware, the P0513 deals with an invalid skim key. This is causing the immobilizer to engage. This could be an issue with the body control module, the RF hub module, PCM, and so on.

Since this happened when replacing the battery, check all fuses if you haven't already to make sure none have failed.

Also, if you are unable to delete the code, there is a chance something is interfering with the RF interface or something was damaged if an actual theft attempt was made.

As far as the codes are concerned, it is based on the type of scanner you are using. If you have a scanner that can scan the can-bus, that will provide a lot more info. Because this is a 2016, that is what you should be using. Take a look through this link and let me know if this is what was done.

Thank you for all the information. It has been a big help with understanding why I'm seeing what I am seeing. I'm new to the computer side of working on cars and there's a lot of information there. I have successfully been able to clear all the codes and now the only code that I get is p0513. I've even reprogrammed the fobs and added a new one but still get the code. All the fuses look good, and I've even tested them with a meter just to make sure.

I thought from what I've read if the BCM is locked the Jeep will start but will shut off after a few seconds. Do you know if that is true? I'm kind of wondering if this is a PCM problem? I haven't actually confirmed the VIN in the PCM and I'm going to take a look at that. I just didn't see how that would have changed on its own.

Okay, I'm an idiot and need to take time to learn how this program works. So, the car does think that there was a theft attempt. There were a whole bunch of errors on the BCM. I cleared them all out and they did not come back. I tried to start it and thought I heard the starter tried to turn but the voltage is so low on the battery. I need to hook it up to a charger. Unfortunately, my OBD EX stopped working after the computer updated while I was doing this and it's not connecting so I'm going to try to get that going again. I'll let you know when I come up with.

Hi, did you manage to solve the problem with the P0513 error ?????
I have exactly the same problem with my Jeep Renegade 2.4l after the battery died. I have been trying to solve this problem for three months now and no result! Help with advice!

Hi,

He hasn't gotten back to me yet. However, he did indicate the body control module codes and the vehicle thought it was being stolen. However, the battery was weak and hasn't been confirmed yet.

Let's see what he comes up with.
