Bought this car INOP, the guy at the auction told me it was running fine when they brought it in, I trust him, been dealing with him for years. Battery was drained and she wasn't even cranking.. got another decent battery I had around, volts are good, also put a jumper box on it. It started to turn but the RPM needle isn't moving. And doesn't sound normal, made sure camshaft and rocker arms turning by taking a peek in the valve cover cap. Only code I have is p0365, for a camshaft sensor. Would this sensor prevent it you think from starting? Could crankshaft sensor on these trigger this code without having a code? Where is it located? This has the 1.8L and if am not mistaken since it is not a Civic SI has the SOHC.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, the camshaft position sensor faults will cause the car to not start. You will need to test the circuit as well. Here are tutorials for you to view for wiring testing and sensor replacement:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/camshaft-angle-sensor-replacement

I've attached picture diagnostic steps below relating to the code you provided as well as replacement steps. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Based on the pic before last, is the location on the back of the valve cover on passenger side while standing in front of the car? Pics don't say, i saw something similar to it and i unplugged it to see what it is, and i had a rocker arm something as a code.

Replaced it, battery is weak but with a jumper it still didn't start. I see the rpm needle moving now at least, and maybe just once it gave a beat, starter fluid did not help and i can hear the fuel pump. Tried to see any codes and there were none, only one time i had the p0365 with a triangle under pending codes, but i think that is because the battery is weak.

Hi,

I just thought I would add this for you. I attached the wiring schematic for the DLC. Connector 4 is ground and pin 5 is also a ground. If you look at pic 2, I followed the wire from pin 5. It ends at the letter J. After going through several pics, I found the other end of J and it's in pic 3.

I attached three pics below. Take a look through them and let me know if you need additional information.

Take care and God Bless,

Joe

Cool, someone made a video about grounding them together and see of it cranks, which may indicate a grounding issue.

Hello again.

Before doing this did you test and see if the battery was fully charged? You need to have your battery at 100% to do all this testing. If you remove the battery and take it to you local auto parts stores they can test it for free. Here are a few battery testing tutorials for you to view about batteries:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-a-car-battery-works

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-charge-your-car-battery

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/symptoms-of-a-bad-car-battery

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-a-car-battery

Let us know if you charged the battery and we'll go from here forward.. If you charged the battery fully 100% we can then move forward on with our diagnostics.

I know it's not fully charged and that it's weak, but i have been using a jumper box and even if weak it should have started because i have a strong jumper box.

Input a new battery in it same thing, also made a couple of pop noise. MAF boot is off maybe that's why, took me quite few cranks before i got the p0365 again, but it's under pending. Should i try another camshaft sensor different brand?

Found the relay and switched with another no results, but if my findings on the volts are right then the wire to the relay has an issue? Because it's .5v?
