Hi,

The code is related to a turbo under boost. That is why you are having a power loss. Can you describe the noise? Better yet, could you record it and upload it for me to hear?

The issue can be a bad turbo, the wastegate is stuck open, the wastegate control hose is disconnected or broken and the list goes on.

I attached a pic below of the unit. You can see all the hoses in the pic. Make sure nothing is disconnected or damaged.

Let me know about the sound.

Joe

Hi,

It was hard to tell when you were revving the engine. However, at idle it didn't sound good. Have you checked to make sure nothing was disconnected?

I suspect it has something to do with the waste gate. Do me a favor, check the two locations I circled on the picture below. Number 2 is the wastegate regulating valve and 3 is the bypass valve. Check to make sure nothing is disconnected or broken.

Let me know.

I was told by a mechanic it could be my inter-cooler. Could you tell me where that is located?

The inter-cooler is at the bottom of the radiator support. Here are the directions for removal and replacement. The attached pics correlate with the directions.

Hi,

I have to be honest. I don't think the inter-cooler is the problem. You mentioned that someone told you that could be the issue. I suspect something has come disconnected or the turbo itself has failed. But, I feel the turbo would be making more noise.

I just went through a situation with a BMW 325 with a similar issue. The charge air tube had broken and the turbo was not working. The owner was told the turbo needed replaced, but instead, it was a plastic pipe that had broken.

Has anyone inspected the vehicle for you since the issue has happened? Have any new codes come up?

As far as damage, please understand, without knowing the actual cause, I really can't answer that with any certainty.

Let me know.
