Third owner of the car and it’s been a journey getting this car fixed of all engine codes beside a vacuum leak, but I’ve been dealing with my key having to be basically turned on and off multiple times and having to rip it out like I’m starting a chainsaw. Could I get any advice on where to start at?

Hi,

Both of the codes are related to the key not being recognized. If you have a spare key, try it to see if it makes a difference.

I looked through the diagnostics for both codes, and they are basically the same. So, I attached the diagnostics below. Take a look through them and let me know if this is something you feel comfortable doing.

Let me know.

Joe

That second picture is blurry. Is there any way you could send a link or email it to me? And I just have $50.00 Bluetooth hyper tough ob2i reader, would that work to fix this issue? I feel like the person before me that installed the aftermarket radio might have gotten something mixed or cut or something idk. It’s been a crazy ride with this car for sure.

Hi Ryan,

I'm not allowed to email or link it to you because it is from a manual. (Copyrights) I'm allowed to send it via this site. Also, it's unlikely the scanner you have will do it. You need a bidirectional scanner that can communicate with the modules and not just receive information.

I enlarged the pic and cut it in half to make it readable for you. I did overlap the two so you can follow from one to the next.

Let me know if you are able to read this one.

Let me know.

Joe

Thank you very much for that. Although I don’t have a bidirectional scanner, I appreciate the help. I’ve noticed the ignition itself is “worn” out making it not registered the key being the right one and turning it in/off. In the process of this I replaced door speakers, but my handle rods had come off and I’m not sure how to get them on. Would I need to create a new question?

Hi,

As far as the door handle is concerned, yes, could you start a new thread? We try to keep these specific to one topic, so they are more helpful to others.

Here is the link to start a new one:

I hope you understand.

Take care,

Joe
