My car is at mechanic garage right now and is undergoing clutch repair via warranty. Now my mechanic recons that parts he needs for the job go for around £900, but warranty engineer said that £400 clutch kit will be enough. Please advise as someone is wrong here.

Hi,

Unfortunately, this is the way warranties work. They determine what will fix the vehicle for the least cost. When they are paying the bill they get to make that call. Obviously, this is being done at no cost to you so as long as it fixes the vehicle, it doesn't matter. If it doesn't fix the vehicle then they will need to do the job again. Nobody wants this to happen but this is their risk not yours. Meaning if they are wrong, then they will pay to do it again.

I wouldn't fight too much other than to find out what the difference is in the parts. Are they leaving parts out or are they saying some are don't need to be replaced and the mechanic says they do?
