I was driving home and pulling off the highway when I tried to downshift, and realized my foot when all the way to the floor with no resistance (and there was a smell). I pulled off at a parking lot, and noticed what seems to be a puddle under my vehicle. Would I be correct in assuming it was a clutch cylinder, or do I have bigger problems?

Good afternoon,

The most common failure is the slave cylinder in the transmission. The transmission must be removed to access the slave.

I attached a YouTube video of the procedure for removing the transmission.

Let us know if there are any other questions.
