clutch gear shifter rod removal

I know how to change the clutch, but cannot figure how to get the gear shifter rod out. please send me a diagram or video on how to do this please.

These are the only images I can find that detach the shifter in the car from the transmission end of the linkage. It says you drop the drive shaft, then remove the clip in the first pic, then slide the pieces apart.
