When I left the clutch to biting point after changing gears a knock noise happens. When i put the car in 4wd mode the noise disappears car works perfectly. Also when changing gears a grinding noise occurs can you please help me much appreciated.

I believe this vehicle is AWD and when you engage the 4WD, it is in fact locking the differentials to be equal for both ftont and rear.

I would suspect the transfer gear needs to be checked, most probably the chain within the transfer is worn..

Where would I find the transfer gear/chain is it in the engine? I was also told that problem is the axle I replaced a new axle but the problem never went away could the problem be from their. Thank you for your time and help

Transfer gear is the one at rear of transmission where the driveshafts comes out to be connected to front and rear of vehicle.
