Clunking in suspension?

Van had bad lower control arms so i replaced them. Axle was also busyed and grease all over replaced it. The only noise left is when i take off there is a clunk and when am about to stop same one on one side. I suspect the sway bar links based on what i saw and felt. I can move them by hand and they are mot tight as they should. Could the sway bar links make such noise when its metal on metal?

Hi,

It is possible for them to make a metallic noise, but usually that only happens if they break. Are you sure the ball joint, control arm, and wheel bearings are good?

If the sound is loud enough, could you record it and upload it for me to hear?

Arm and ball joints are new. No noise for bearing or play at all.

Hi,

The odd part is if you only hear it when you first accelerate and then again just before you come to a complete stop. When accelerating, I could see a sway bar link or sway bar making noise, but right before coming to a complete stop doesn't make sense.

If you are able to move the sway bar link by hand, remove it and drive a short distance to see if the noise is gone. Try that and let me know the results. Keep in mind, the vehicle will handle slightly differently when turning. However, going straight, you shouldn't notice a difference.
