Clunk when going slowly and tapping the brakes?

My front brakes and rotors are new and i have a clunk when going slowly and tapping the brakes and in reverse when going slowly and tapping the brakes there is no clunk. what is it?

Hi,

First, make sure the brake caliper bolts are tight as well as the caliper mount bolts. See pic below.

Additionally, there are anti-rattle clips at each end of the brake pads. Make sure they are properly installed. This is what I expect is either missing or not installed correctly. They would allow the brake pads to move in the mount.

I highlighted the clips and caliper bolts. The caliper mount bolts are on the rear of the mount and bolted to the steering knuckle.

The brakes and rotors are brand new, and the clips are installed properly, and the caliper bolts are tight and as well the caliper mounting bracket bolts are tight too. It is acting like a ball joint to me. how do i check the lower and upper ball joints? It had the clunk before the new rotors and brakes were installed too. When rolling very slowly and just tapping the brakes there is a clunk and it feels like some suspension part is moving and clunking. again, while going in reverse and tapping the brakes it is solid with no clunk and no feeling of suspension moving at normal highway driving everything works well accept on initial tap of brakes there is that clunk. thanks

Hi,

Lift the wheel about 3" off the ground. Place a pry bar between the tire and the ground. Wiggle the prybar up and down. If there is play, you should feel it.

Note: When lifting the wheel, the left or right-side vehicle weight should be placed on the lower control arm for testing.

Let me know. Also, check to make sure there are no issues with the control arm bushings and the tension bar bushings. See pic below.
