Had to install new power steering gear forgot to remove negative battery cable. After installation cranked and will idle but will not accelerate. Could I have damaged the clock spring during installation of power steering gear?

Yes, the clock spring can be damaged when doing the steering box. Did you turn the wheel a bunch of times? This will do it. Here is a guide to help you see what you are in for:

Please let us know what happens.
