Trying to start the car I hear rapid clicking and the engine trying to turn over, after a few tries the car does start and stays running.

Hi,

Can you tell if the sound is coming from under the hood? If it is, check to make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight.

If it isn't, let me know where the sound seems to come from.

Keep in mind, a rapid clicking from the starter motor is usually the sign of a weak battery. Here is a basic test you can do to check the battery:

Also, if you take the vehicle to a parts store, most will load-test the battery free of charge.

Let me know what you find or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe
