Is it recommended to clear codes right after repairs before starting the car and would no start or nor turnover be a result of not clearing codes first? I’m sorry if my questions make me seem a little on the uneducated side, I can take an old Chevrolet small block apart and rebuild it practically in my sleep but these newer cars are just like starting the whole learning process all over again.

Hi,

That is a good question. As far as clearing the codes, it shouldn't make a difference. The PCM is designed to turn it off after the problem is resolved and after a specific number of starts with no issue is reached.

Let me know what is happening, what the codes were, or if I can help in any way.

Take care,

joe

I had a code p00CA. so, I replaced the fuel rail fuel pressure sensor, when I went to start the car it would just keep turning over so I pushed the button to stop it and then I waited a couple minutes and then pushed the start button again and it did absolutely nothing so I took the sensor back out and found that it didn’t match the one I originally took out so I got what I believe is the right one and installed it but I still get no response when I push the start button, dash lights and everything else comes on as usual and still get reduced power display along with the check engine light, I’ve checked battery and went through ground wires and mostly all the wire connectors, fuses , I’m a little frustrated.

Hi,

The code, P00CA, indicates the ECM detects a short to voltage in the high-pressure fuel pump actuator high control circuit.

The cause could be a wiring issue, connector, or it could be related to the high-pressure fuel pump.

I attached diagnostics below. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Let me know.

Joe
