Clatter in front left drive shaft

I have a clack, clack, clack in the front driver's side drive shaft. There was slack in it where it goes into the transfer case. I replaced the shaft, but I can still wiggle it with my hand. I suspect it is really the seal that needs to be replaced. Thoughts please?

have t-case and front axle bearings checked for wear
