There's a loud clacking noise and when I put antifreeze in it quiets down. It's only loud when my coolant is low.

Hi,

Is the noise coming from under the hood? Also, how low is the coolant when this happens? Is it loud enough for you to record and upload for me to hear?

Interestingly, the coolant is what lubricates the water pump. However, for that to be low enough to starve the pump for fluid, it's extremely low. How often do you need to add coolant?

Do me a favor. Take a look at the link below. It explains the common symptoms of a failing water pump. See if anything in it mirrors what you find or experience.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe
