2005 Citroen Picasso Engine overheating

Hi
recently my auxliary heater which heats the enginge coolant to warm the engine up quicker decide to burn out I have now dissconnected until replacement can be sourced since I have done this the car would not get warm inside then after a small run it overheated I left it for a hour restarted it this time the car started getting warm inside great I thought then I switched the heater off and the car overheated again I have being told it could be the coolant was not ,mixed right and has froze any help would be welcome what to do next as im no mechanic but pretty good with me tools

fix the original fault .. fill the coolant correctly and retest ?
