1997 Grand Caravan brake booster

1997 Grand caravan LE, 3.8 v6, auto, 160,000 miles. How do you remove and replace brake booster without breaking pushrod on booster? Have removed battery, battery tray, egr assembly, throttle body assembly, master cylinder, wiring, vaccum lines. Cowl next?

Remove the rod from the booster to the brake pedal by inserting small screwdriver between center tang on retaining clip, rotate screwdriver enough to allow center tang to pass over the end of brake pedal pin. Your new booster should come with a new clip

I had removed this clip, my question was regarding getting the booster out and back in place without having to flex the rod so much it fractured the plastic surrounding the pushrod, thereby ruining the new booster.

Those are the instructions per Mitchell On Demand. Without actually seeing it, I believe they are talking about the rod being removed from the booster

No, the rod does not come out of the booster. I guess I misunderstood the purpose of this website. Thanks anyway.
