2006 Chrysler Town and Country Front Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles
On the day I returned from taking 4000 miles trip in my van, it just stopped and won't start.
While I was in the Post Office, and letting the car idle for 20 minutes, the car just stop running. When I try to restart it - nothing. So I moved the gear shift handle, but the lights for (P)ark or (N)eutral remained unlit, so I couldn't restart the van. After detaching and reattaching battery, repeatedly trying to turn the key to restart it, I was able to restart it.(After 20 min.S - Not sure if the (P) lit up).
I drove home, thinking it was back to normal. Turn off the van and try to restart it again to see if things were back to normal. It wouldn't start again. Since I was park in the street, I could not get it into my garage.
The next morning, I detached and reattached the battery again and it started again. Drove it into the garage. Left it running. I heated up the garage to see if it was temperature related (told I might have a frozen ball detent). I turned off the car after 30 minutes. Tried to restart and nothing. Up to this point the dash lights are the same as the initial problem. The gear shift moves, but the (P) and (N) are not registering.
I tried the sames fixes as before and nothing. Two mornings later, and after having to replace the battery because I left the key turned in the ignition, I placed the key in and got something different. Now all the gear shift lights are on at the same time.
I borrowed an OBD type II reader and no codes registered. I check the ignition to see if the warning lights come on when the key is turned forward(but not to start) and they did. I am at a lost and don't have the money to have it tow and repair (Back in college). Maybe I will after my tax refund. But that is 30+ days away.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
