I recently had a "clunk" in the front end. The garage said I needed new struts & bearing plates which I had installed. Since then the clunk has been eliminated, but when the weather is cold I get a loud noise like metal on metal when going over uneven ground or bumps in cold weather, under 40 degrees. The garage admitted to the noise and after three trips back they still don't know of a solution. Could the struts or bearing plates be defective?

Thank you in Aiken SC

We had the same problem in our town and country, and have since read on many forums where it is a common problem. The bushings need to be replaced. I have read that the Napa bushings are the best to replace with. Hope this helps.

It's almost for sure the front sway bar bushings. I've had to replace mine twice over the past three years on my 2003 T&C. It's a cheap fix at around $20.00 if you can do it yourself but the "clunk" will be gone!
